As a general rule, to convert women’s pants size to men, simply add 21 to your women’s size to get the closest men’s size equivalent, although you still have to consider the inseam size as women’s jeans tend to have wider hips and narrower waist than men’s.
A note: there is no such thing as standard women’s sizing, so this is just a general fit guide. If a brand provides a women’s pants size chart, go with that sizing. Measure, measure, measure.
Add 1/2″ to 1″ if you plan on mostly wearing heels with them. Or take a pair of pants you currently wear, lay them flat, and measure the inseam—the visible inner leg seam—from the top to the hem. If possible, use this measurement to select the pant length you need, rather than relying on words like “short,” “regular,” and “long.”
